Sciatica Treatment in Denton

Sciatica isn’t the problem — it’s the signal.  When a nerve in the lower back gets irritated or compressed, pain travels. Usually down one leg. Sometimes both.  At SDCC, we focus on relieving the pressure causing the nerve irritation, not just chasing symptoms — without surgery or drugs.

What Is Sciatica?

Sciatica happens when the sciatic nerve is irritated, most often by a disc issue, joint restriction, or spinal imbalance in the lower back.  That irritation can create pain that radiates from the low back into the hip, leg, or foot.  The nerve isn’t “angry.” It’s compressed.

Common Symptoms We See

This can happen in the:

Not everyone feels sciatica the same way. That’s why we don’t treat it the same way.

We Follow a Plan

  1. Non-surgical spinal decompression to reduce pressure on irritated discs and nerves
  2. Chiropractic adjustments to restore proper motion and alignment

  3. Supportive therapies when appropriate

Sciatica Treatment in Denton, TX

Sciatica happens when the sciatic nerve gets irritated — often from disc pressure, joint restriction, or inflammation in the lower back. It can cause sharp pain, burning, numbness, or tingling that travels from your low back into your hip or leg.  We focus on relieving pressure at the source. Through personalized care that may include spinal decompression and targeted adjustments, we work to calm the nerve and restore normal movement.

Absolutely great experience here. Everybody is incredibly kind and welcoming. They were able to schedule me for an initial consult very quickly and I finally have a diagnosis for something that's been bothering me for over a year. Prior practitioners I've seen for the issue just brushed me off and recommended physical therapy. It was extremely refreshing to be taken seriously and having an answer is such a relief. I would highly recommend this office. They have been so great to work with.

I’ve been seeing Dr. B for about 2 months now, and have only tried the shockwave therapy (for my knees) and general chiropractic adjustments. Honest to God, my knees have never felt better (in conjunction with some at home therapies and working out) and my neck pain/discomfort went from a 7 to a 1. Outstanding work. The office staff is really sweet too.

I absolutely love this Spinal Decompression and Chiropractic Center. I came in with pain almost everywhere, headaches, and 18° scoliosis. By going every week for a few weeks, I was able to completely eliminate my scoliosis and have less headaches and pains. Every worker here has a kind and appreciative attitude no matter how early I am in the morning. (I visit right when they open!) I see Dr. Baugher and I’m pleasantly surprised every visit!

YOUR FIRST VISIT

Your visit begins with a quick, free conversation with Dr. B to see if what’s going on qualifies for care in our office. If it does, we move into a thorough exam — orthopedic and neurological testing, range-of-motion checks, and on-site X-rays when needed.

Once everything’s reviewed, Dr. B walks you through what he found in simple, clear language. You’ll understand exactly what’s happening, what can help, and what your personalized treatment plan would look like. Many patients who qualify for care go on to avoid surgery long-term.

FAQs

Sciatica FAQs

In many cases, yes. If your sciatica is coming from irritation or pressure in the low back, we look at what’s causing that pressure and build a treatment plan around it. The goal is to calm the nerve down, help you move better, and get you back to normal life.

Treatment should not feel scary. Some people feel sore or tender at first, especially if the nerve is already very irritated, but the goal is to reduce pain, not pile onto it. We use gentle, targeted care and adjust the plan based on how your body responds.

That starts with an exam. Dr. Baugher will sit down with you, go over what’s happening, examine the area, and take x-rays if needed to see whether your condition is a good fit for care here. If it is, we’ll explain your options clearly. If it’s not, we’ll tell you that too.

We don’t do one-size-fits-all or random one-off care. Sciatica treatment is usually part of a personalized plan based on what’s causing your pain, how long it’s been going on, and what kind of results you’re trying to get.
